Patrick Pettit, CCM
Patrick has enjoyed being in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. Patrick’s career started as a bellman at the Four Seasons Inn on the Park Hotel in Houston while attending the Hilton College at the University of Houston. After graduating, Patrick continued his career within a variety of operational roles and for a total of 10 years within Four Seasons Resort & Hotels in both Houston and Dallas. He made the move back to Private Clubs when he joined ClubCorp, where he served as both General Manager and Regional Manager for 17 years including one of the world’s largest country clubs, The Clubs of Kingwood (Kingwood, TX). Patrick joined the Sweetwater Country Club family in October 2015 as General Manager and also serves as part of the CBIGG Executive team.
Patrick is married, has two children and a granddaughter. Patrick is a proud graduate of the University of Houston and enjoys being active within the Club Managers Association of America and the communities in which he works and resides.
Karie has served Sweetwater C.C. and our sister properties since 2009. She literally grew up in the Club business. Her mother worked as a General Manager in the Club Industry for many years providing an opportunity for Karie to see and be part of a Club in every aspect even starting out her career as a beverage cart driver.
She is originally from Kingwood, TX, a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri with a degree in Marketing: Advertising and Public Relations. After graduation, it was a natural fit to walk in my mother’s footsteps and become a part of the Private Club industry. After college, Karie’s career started as a Member Relations Director at the Houston City Club and now 16+ years in Sales and Membership. Karie truly loves serving others and welcomes the opportunity to introduce others to the Sweetwater Country Club family.
Karie and her family are fully immersed into the community. Her husband, Tim grew up in Sugar Land and as a Member of Sweetwater C.C. Karie and Tim enjoy and embrace the opportunity to raise their two daughters in such a wonderful community!
Deanna has been in the hospitality industry for over 15 years, starting at Chili’s Bar and Grill as a waitress, bartender and trainer while she worked her way through College. Once she graduated from the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business with a degree in Marketing she went on to work for the Houston Texans as the Cheerleader/Mascot coordinator and then moved over to Customer Service Assistant helping coordinate suite events. From there she decided private events was her passion and joined the Sweetwater C.C. Team in 2007 as the Private Events Sales Manager. Her passion continues to shine now as the newest Membership Director. As one of our members recently said, “Deanna is outstanding and a dream come true!”
She is a native Houstonian and has lived in Sugar Land for 19 years. As fate would have it, she met her husband here at Sweetwater when he was hired as one of the Assistant Golf Professionals and to no surprise they had their wedding reception here at Sweetwater in the Grand Ballroom. Married for almost 5 years now, they have 2 kids a boy and a girl.
Director of Catering & Private Events
Jennifer Keefe has over 2 decades of experience in the world of hospitality. Her love of events started with a 21 year career working with Clubcorp, formerly Club Corporation of America, as a Private Event Director, trainer, and regional food & beverage specialist over the years. Jennifer joined the Sweetwater team in 2011. Jennifer has been involved with NACE, MPI & ACCP over the years. She plans, coordinates, and produces weddings, mitzvahs, social occasions, and non-profits as well as corporate events. Whether she is planning a meeting for five people or a Gala for five hundred, Jennifer's contagious enthusiasm shines through every aspect of her events. "My passion is the love of celebrations! I thrive on making each one different and beautiful in its own way. Let me help you celebrate any and every occasion in your life!"
Bob McHugh, PGA
Director of Golf
PGA Class A Member Bob McHugh joined our team as Director of Golf in 2007. Bob is an award winning PGA Professional with extensive experience in private golf club operations, skilled in providing exceptional service, membership relations and promoting the club. Bob is the consummate Golf Professional and has been the Director of Golf at Sweetwater since 2007. Prior to Sweetwater C.C., Bob served as the Head Golf Professional at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts where he hosted and directed services associated with the 2004 United States Women’s Open Golf Championship. His professional experience also includes serving as the first Head Golf Professional at Harbor Links Golf Course in Port Washington, New York where he received the prestigious Arnold Palmer Golf Professional of the Year Award in 2002. An accomplished and experienced teacher who credits PGA Top Teachers Brad Brewer, John O’Leary, Craig Shankland, Randy Smith, David Leadbetter, and Charlie Sorrell as influential models, Bob is also available for golf instruction and club fitting, scheduled through the golf shop.
Bob and his wife Kristin live in Sienna Plantation with their twin daughters Emily and Elyssa.
Director of Tennis
Brian Cosma, Director of Tennis joined us back in 1993. He is a USPTA certified instructor with a “PI” rating for the past 25 years, and Wilson Racquet Sports Advisory Board. After completing his degree in recreational management, he has held positions at John Newcomb’s Tennis Ranch, Miracles Hills Golf and Tennis (Omaha, NE), and teaching tennis for the city of Santa Fe (New Mexico).
His significant accomplishments include the completion of the tennis tech program at Tyler Junior College, finishing first in his class at Vic Braden tennis professional school, and coaching the Marian Girls (Omaha, NE) tennis team to their first state championship. Brian has over 26 years of tennis teaching experience.
Brian is passionate about helping players of all levels reach their goals, as well as offering a calendar of activities and programming that interest all Members.
LeRoy N. Franklin Jr.
LeRoy Franklin, Athletic Director is a graduate of Clements High School. He has a B.S. in Fitness and Exercise Science from the University of Tulsa (TU). While LeRoy attended TU he played football, competed in karate, and joined the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Franklin has over 20 years of experience in strength training, conditioning and sports rehabilitation. He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and CPR/First Aid & AED Certified with the American Red Cross. LeRoy spent 1 year at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa Oklahoma as a Cardiac Rehabilitation Therapist. He was also the Weight Management Consultant and A Sports Rehabilitation Therapist at The Texas Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery, in Sugar Land, Texas, for one year after leaving Tulsa.
LeRoy joined the SWCC Family in May of 1994. As the Athletic Director he works with numerous high schools, collegiate and professional athletes including the 1999 World Champion Spurs. LeRoy is available for personal training, weight management consulting and group fitness training.
Al Consoli, PGA
Director of Instruction, Golf Academy at Sweetwater C.C.
Al is a native of Reading, Pennsylvania and most recently the teaching professional/club fitter at The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course. Al began his collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame and later received his B.S. in Biology from American University. Attempting to pursue a career in medicine, he entered the masters program at New York Medical College and later attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2001.
Realizing his passions lie elsewhere, he made the transition into the golf business in 2003 going to work for Michael Breed , the current host of The Golf Channel’s “The Golf Fix”, at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale, NY. He proceeded to work at several top clubs in the
Metropolitan Section including a teaching position at Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY, the longtime host of the Buick Classic. Al has had the good fortune to study under 4 of the current Top 100 Teachers in United States and his pursuit of education led him to become one of Jim Hardy’s Plane Truth Certified Instructors in 2012.
Al considers becoming the Director of Instruction at Sweetwater Country Club a tremendous professional honor. He is excited to learn and share information with the current staff, and most importantly to help the membership master the ability to produce a correct, repetitive impact and improve those handicaps!
Golf Course Superintendent
Randy Samoff is a Class A Member of the GCSAA and has served as our Golf Course Superintendent since January 2015. Prior to joining our team, he served the Members at Champions Golf Club (2013-2014 – 36 holes) Redstone Golf Club. Randy was brought on at the beginning stages of the construction for the Tournament Course at Redstone. He was in charge of the operations on all 36 holes from 2008-2013. He was involved with the preparation for the Shell Houston Open as an assistant and superintendent for 13 years, with 10 events at Redstone and another 3 when the event was at The Woodlands. He elevated conditions during his tenure at Redstone to arguably the best conditions that the players on the PGA Tour see all year, year in and year out.
A graduate of Texas A&M, Randy’s previous course experience before going to Redstone was at The Woodlands C.C., where he worked for 5 years. Spending time as an assistant at all of the courses there, he helped with the renovation/construction of 63 holes, working on everything from greens renovation, to total course reconstruction and grow in and learning the skills necessary to become a superintendent.
A native Texan and Houstonian, Randy has lived in the Houston area for the majority of his life. Randy was the 2010 winner of the South Texas Golf Course Superintendent Association’s Superintendent of the Year Award, and was a finalist in 2009, 2010, and 2012. Randy also received a nice award in 2014 for his work in social media – he was awarded the Best Use of Twitter Award by Golf Course Industry Magazine.
Renee Palmer has spent most of her career at Sweetwater Country Club. She was hired in 1984 as the Payroll Manager and was later promoted to Controller. She is originally from Sugar Land so she has been part of many changes in the growing area as well as the Club. She has been married for 25 years and has two kids and a daughter-in-law.
Over the years, she has enjoyed the friendships of both Members and Employees. She most appreciates her long time staff, Gina and Charlotte, who assist in the Accounting Department.
Member Relations Director
Lauren grew up in Montgomery, Texas and is a proud graduate of Austin College (home of the Mighty Fighting Kangaroos!). She brings over a decade of hospitality experience, including time at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center, St. Regis Hotel, Houston and Royal Sonesta Hotel, Houston. Most recently she has served the Members at the April Sound Country Club, a part of ClubCorp.
Lauren is focused on creating memorable programming and events, promoting communication and is committed to understanding Members' needs and exceeding their expectations.
Born in New Orleans, Chef Jon has been around food for his entire life. Even after his parents moved to Houston, the culinary atmosphere around the house and the approach that his mother took never changed. It was Cajun and Creole cuisine done the traditional way.
After Studying Geology at Southwest Texas State University for three years, Chef finally decided that being a Chef was the direction he wanted to go. He went to Brennans of Houston and worked under the watchful eye of Chef Carl Walker for five years. He then transferred to the Palace Café in New Orleans to help broaden his culinary experiences. Feeling a need to gain further knowledge, he went to the Culinary Institute of America where he graduated with honors. Chef then went to Sierra Grill where he worked hand in hand with Chef Charlie Watkins to help build the most successful Southwestern Style Restaurant in Houston. Chef then moved on the open his own restaurant called Bourbon Street Bistro where he worked for 2 years. After leaving his company, Chef went on to work at the Raven Grill and consulted on several projects around town.
Since 2000, Chef Hebert has helped Houston City Club, Lakeside Country Club and Northgate Country Clubs rebuild their culinary reputations. Chef is proud to call Sweetwater and CBIGG his home and looks forward to serving Sweetwater C.C. Members for many years to come.
Food & Beverage Director
Allan Santiago joined the CBIGG family in 2015 bringing 14+ years of experience in the Private Club industry, He began his food and beverage career in 2001 with ClubCorp after moving from Colorado where he worked as a teacher for the Alamosa High School District. Allan is a former Food and Beverage Director for the Houston Club and he is committed to understanding Member's needs and exceeding their expectations,
Allan has a Bachelors diploma in Science and Letters and a teaching degree from his home country of Guatemala. Proud father of two girls and two boys. Allan continues his role with our company as part of the CBIGG executive team and looks forward to serving our members for many years.
Bill has worked in Private Clubs for over 5 years and brings a wealth of food & beverage experience to his role at Sweetwater. He is a 2008 graduate of LaSalle University with a degree in American History. A passionate sports fan (Mets & Jets) and an avid golfer, Bill looks forward to sharing his knowledge of craft beer and cocktails with the members.
